Small in size and of sound design, the USRA 2-8-2 Light performed well under almost all conditions. First produced in 1918, more than 1,200 units of the USRA 2-8-2 Light design were built by various manufacturers. Serving the railroads of America for nearly 40 years, the USRA 2-8-2 Light was utilized by over 50 railroads as a mainstay of their motive power fleet.
